Gemma was a sweetheart of a Barbet from the Oreo x Sophie litter. She was a happy-go-lucky girl with a bounce in her step and an exuberance for life. Gemma loved to swim and retrieve and accompanied our family on regular trips to the cottage and camping.
In the summer of 2015 Gemma obtained her CKC Championship and also earned her CKC Canine Good Neighbour title. Gemma went to live with the Griffith family where she enjoyed the company of their children and the companionship of Alfie, another Northrock Barbet.
Sadly, Gemma left us far too soon. She was diagnosed with blastomycosis and unfortunately any chance of her surviving was extremely unlikely. Her family and I made the decision to help her pass peacefully and end her struggle. Many thanks to the wonderful vets who helped to care for Gemma and my love and thanks to the Griffith family who had welcomed her into their hearts and home.
I am so glad to have shared my life with such a special dog. I will always be thankful to his breeder Lillian Greensides for entrusting us with Quincy and to the incredible community of fellow dog owners with whom so many dear friendships have been made.
He was a consummate retriever and ball obsessed. Quincy was always up for whatever we wanted to do. That's what made trying so many different things with him so much fun. Despite having to put up with a novice handler who learned to show him in conformation, trial in obedience and play in the field we did end up coming away with some letters in front of and behind his name. His greatest love was the field game. His drive and enthusiasm were what got me out of bed many a cold winter morning to go train. I have met so many wonderful people and tried so many new and fullfilling things because he came into my life. I will forever be endebted to my little red dog who taught me so much.
